Specialized DTH Services
Opportunity Partners’ Karlins Center in Plymouth offers one of the few programs in Minnesota specifically designed to provide day services for people with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). Adults with ASD often need additional, specialized support in order to function more independently. With a 1:4 staff-to-participant ratio, services at Karlins Center are individualized to best meet the needs and goals of each person.
Individualized Services
Each program participant has an individual program plan developed by a team including the individual, family members, social workers, therapists and other professionals. The plan is carefully developed, implemented and modified to ensure it meets the needs of the participant.
Increasing communication is a key element of the program at Karlins Center. With the help of speech therapists, music therapists or other professionals, participants can improve their means of communicating and expressing feelings.
Career Exploration
Karlins Center provides opportunities to experience jobs and community work sites, helping people make informed career decisions. Center-based work options give people the chance to learn job skills and earn a paycheck, while gaining valuable experience that may lead to a community job. Community employment options may include supervised teams or independent jobs, for individuals who are ready to take that step.
Community Inclusion
Karlins Center provides a wealth of educational activities that promote greater independence. When individuals are not working during the day, they may be visiting the library, learning how to shop and order food at restaurants, attending exercise class or occupational therapy.
