January 20, 2009 - Nonprofit disability organization Opportunity Partners has received a $60,000 grant from The Minneapolis Foundation in support of its Building Opportunities for Life capital campaign. The grant is from the B.C. Gamble and P.W. Skogmo Fund of The Minneapolis Foundation.
Opportunity Partners provides employment, housing and educational services to nearly 1,500 individuals with developmental disabilities, brain injury, autism and other special needs. The Building Opportunities for Life capital campaign is about $1.18 million from its goal of $5.5 million, $4.5 million of which is dedicated to remodeling and expanding the organization's Minnetonka headquarters.
“We are very grateful for the generous grant from The Minneapolis Foundation which brings us one step closer to the successful conclusion of our capital campaign,” said Sue Hayes, Opportunity Partners’ Vice President, Advancement. “With The Minneapolis Foundation’s support, Opportunity Partners is on its way to becoming the Twin Cities’ leader in providing quality training and life-long learning opportunities for people with disabilities.”
The primary campaign objectives are:
- A renovated Minnetonka facility with a state-of-the-art vocational and technical training center
- Increased capacity and efficiency for support staff
- Upgraded technical infrastructure
- An Eden Prairie senior center providing high-quality services for people with disabilities
