Opportunity Partners, a Twin Cities nonprofit organization that has been improving the lives of people with disabilities for more than 50 years, has unveiled a new tagline illustrating its intent to change perceptions about the abilities and contributions of people with disabilities.
“The tagline ‘Ability Redefined’ means we are changing the public’s view of disability by showcasing the value our participants bring to the world every day,” said Jon Thompson, Opportunity Partners’ President and CEO. “Our participants are dedicated employees, taxpayers and voters, they are caring friends, talented volunteers, and responsible neighbors. We want the world to know that and to join us in this cause.”
Opportunity Partners enlisted the help of nonprofit brand experts at Creation in Common to develop the new brand position and tagline. The process involved research, focus groups, and message testing, among other activities, to determine what values were at the heart of Opportunity Partners.
To coincide with the tagline launch, Opportunity Partners has redesigned its Web site home page at http://www.opportunitypartners.org/ and is running a sponsorship campaign on Minnesota Public Radio and advertisements on the exterior of MTC buses in the Twin Cities. The bus ads showcase an Opportunity Partners participant with the message: “There’s no ‘dis’ in my ability.” Opportunity Partners also has set up a page on http://www.facebook.com/.
Opportunity Partners serves 1,500 people with disabilities each year through a variety of employment, residential and education/training programs.
